A collaboration film between students from Impact21 and Torrens University Melbourne. A social experiment designed to explore the similarities between first year students despite face value differences. An initiative led by impact21 with input from Torrens University designs a visions in which all young adults with a desire to learn, develop skills and secure meaningful employment are given equal opportunities to reach their potential. Young people with Down syndrome are capable to living independent, self-fulfilling and self- directed lives that are rewarding, socially connected and rich in community contribution.
As the producer, videographer and editor of this social impact film, I was the lead creator in developing and producing the short. As the main filmmaker on the project I managed the mediation between organisations, location scouting, casting and consent, production management as well as shooting the project, managing sounds, preliminary interviews and editing. Aside from the technicalities of the project, as the creator, I also worked to ensure that the piece was on brand for Impact21 as well as maintaining respect and integrity for the cast throughout the production.
